HeartSong was born from a culmination of years of reimagining learning to honor the innate creative spirit of children. The HeartSong approach evolved out of decades of study and experience in alternative education and innovative learning by HeartSong director Heather Frid Jiménez. 

 

In 2017 learning activist Janiva Cifuentes-Hiss joined forces with Heather to create a community of free learners in Heredia, Costa Rica.  A dedicated group of families who resonated with this vision brought the dream to life in 2018.  

 

We believe that discovery is one of life’s greatest joys and that children have the capacity to be motivated self-led learners, without the need for tests, grades, or homework.
